Description of Duties:
The Patient Access Representative answers telephones, schedules new patient appointments, reviews records, triages calls, requests medical information from community medical facilities. Enter patient information into database accurately and assign medical record numbers. Verify insurances and request referrals/authorizations. Pre-register and register patients and update patient demographic information. This person will also assist in all areas that need assistance for the operational needs of the institute as identified by the Coordinator, Supervisor and Senior Director of the Department. This is a trainee position. Incumbents will be engaged in trainee duties that may lead to the full performance level of a Patient Access Representative.
Applicants must have a High School diploma or G.E.D. The preferred candidate will have current experience as a patient access representative or scheduler and physician office telephone, registration and scheduling experience. The candidate will have the ability to work independently with excellent computer database input experience. Patient demographic registration in outpatient and/or hospital setting experience with Insurance verification and referral request experience. Strong organization and multitasking in a fast paced office environment. Must be flexible to change. Excellent time and attendance record. Excellent customer service experience, current experience within Roswell Park Patient Access New Patient Scheduling Department.
