Description of Duties:
The Smoking Cessation Associate's (SCA) duties will include, but are not limited to: responding to incoming calls for Roswell Park Cessation Services, including the NYS Smokers' Quitline; providing motivating cessation coaching, conducting screening for nicotine replacement therapy & provide resources and materials to smokers trying to quit. The SCA will also service calls from health professionals, educators, & others using a wide variety of mechanisms and resources & will locate appropriate materials and information in response to inquiries related to smoking cessation, The SCA candidate should be able to demonstrate high-level communication skills, active listening skills & empathy, be able to effectively problem solve & work with a range of diverse clients. Should demonstrate excellent customer service, telephone & computer skills, including MS Office & be comfortable navigating database screens. Must also be detail oriented with the ability to follow through on tasks while working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Must have demonstrated dependability, flexibility in scheduling & a professional demeanor as well as have self-direction & initiative to achieve team and individuals goals.
Applicants must have an Associate’s degree in an appropriate field and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time experience in a call center, customer service and/or healthcare related field; or a High School Diploma or G.E.D. and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time experience a call center, customer service and/or healthcare related field.The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in related field, be a non-smoker, have customer service or human services background, counseling experience, familiarity with smoking cessation and/or tobacco control, computer experience, reliable work attendance record and some flexibility with work scheduling as well as Bilingual in Spanish.
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
