Description of Duties:
The Nurse II will provide nursing triage and physician referral information to Roswell patients and families via telephone, they will have strong assessment skills; knowledge of commonly used medications and their effects and knowledge of medical terminology and equipment. They will have the ability to evaluate and report reaction changes in the physical and mental conditions of patients, assess appropriate intervention using nursing process, and triage guidelines, document all encounters with patients seeking health advice and the outcome in the electronic healthcare record, make decisions independently using good clinical judgement and triage guidelines, provide patient education when appropriate, register patient visit into the appropriate systems after hours, and complete audits and follow-up as directed.
Candidate must have a license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York.
1. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of one year of full-time oncology nursing experience; or
2. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of one year of full-time critical care experience; or
3. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of three years of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting; or
4. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, the equivalent of one year of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting and completion of RPCI nursing orientation with the ability to function independently at a satisfactory level for three months (full-time) as a Nurse I at RPCI.
The preferred candidate will possess a BSN degree, a minimum of three (3) years oncology experience in an acute care setting, five (5) years of recent clinical experience in any of the following areas: medical-surgical, critical care, emergency room, telephone triage experience of one (1) year or more, and board certified in an appropriate specialty (OCN,CCRN,Med-Surg, CCRN, Emergency). The preferred candidate will also have excellent telephone, verbal and interpersonal skills, including careful listening skills, theability to make decisions independently utilizing professional judgement, excellent relationship building skills, excellent follow-up skills, as well as working knowledge of the principles of professional nursing.
