Description of Duties:
The Research Associate performs a variety of routine and specialized laboratory tests and experimental procedures for the purposes of original research which generally are within a well-defined body of scientific knowledge and typically contribute to larger research efforts of independent investigators.The Research Associate performs various experiments to support research protocol efforts, develops a thorough knowledge of each research study, set-up and operation of the instruments involved in each case, records and checks results for completeness and accuracy, troubleshoots problems as necessary, collects data from each experiment, calculates results of research studies and records information appropriately, assists with planning specific research procedures; develops and troubleshoots new techniques that have been written up in the literature, as well as proposes alternative experimental procedures to the principal investigator, sets up, calibrates, and performs routine maintenance on specialized laboratory equipment.
Applicants must have a Master’s degree and the equivalent of eighteen (18) months of full-time professional research experience in a laboratory, clinical or scientific research environment; or a Bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of thirty (30) months of full-time professional research experience in a laboratory, clinical or scientific research environment. The preferred candidate will have clinical licensure or clinical flow cytometry specialty license/certification, Immunology or cell science background, Tissue culture and sterile technique, Flow cytometric experience especially with the soiling of cells, and the ability to multi-task and keep quality records.
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
