Summer 2017: Important Construction and Safety Notices for Roswell Park Patients

Construction is underway on our new Katherine, Anne & Donna Gioia Pediatric Hematology Oncology Center at the front of our main hospital. We are also performing repairs to our parking garage. While we are making every effort to help ensure that these projects have minimal impact on your travel to and from Roswell Park, your safety and convenience is our first priority.

See a map of the affected areas.

Sidewalk Closure

Starting Thursday, June 8, a portion of the sidewalk between the Main Hospital and the Scott Bieler Clinical Sciences Center (CSC) will be blocked off by a construction fence. For your safety, please follow all directional signs in order to travel around this area and always use the designated crosswalks to cross any streets. Entrances to both the Roswell Park main hospital and Scott Bieler Clinical Sciences Center will remain open.

Parking Garage Bridge Closure

Also beginning Thursday, June 8 the pedestrian bridge that connects the third level of our parking ramp to our hospital will be closed until late summer. If you park on the third level of the parking ramp, you will need to take the parking garage elevators to the ground floor and follow the signs to the crosswalks to safely cross Carlton Street to the main hospital or the CSC.

Parking Garage Repairs

The front ramp in our parking garage is closed for repairs and traffic will be rerouted accordingly. Barriers and signs are posted, and there will be guides in place to direct traffic and pedestrians. Please use caution as you drive through the garage and pay attention to the signage.

Valet Remains Open

Valet parking is still available for patients from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday - Friday (except holidays). There is a $1 additional charge for valet services (standard parking rates apply). To valet your vehicle, just pull up to the hospital's main entrance and our valet attendants will assist you. Valet parking can only accept cash payment.

Steps We Are Taking To Help

Crosswalk guards and additional staff within the parking garage are there to help direct both pedestrian and vehicle traffic. There are wheelchairs available within the parking garage and at the entrance of the CSC. Should you require this assistance, look for the staff in the bright-colored vests to help you travel to your destination, or call 845-5718.

Please see the map below to understand where exactly the closures are and where it is safest to cross the street to enter our buildings.
